There are plenty of waterfalls around Da Lat, each with its own character — some lively with adventure rides, others wild and majestic. Here are the five most worth visiting.
1. Datanla Falls
Right on the Prenn pass, only about 5 km from the centre. The star attraction is the alpine coaster racing through the pine forest down to the falls — fun for adults and kids alike. It's the easiest waterfall to reach; go in the morning.
2. Pongour Falls
About 45 km from Da Lat towards Duc Trong, famous for water spilling over wide stone terraces like a giant staircase. Pongour is at its best in the rainy season when the flow is strong; in the dry season there's less water but you can walk out onto the terraces for photos.
3. Elephant Falls
In Nam Ban town — wild and dramatic among huge boulders. Right next to it is Linh An Pagoda with a large Maitreya Buddha overlooking the valley, so visit both. The path down is steep and slippery; take care.
4. Prenn Falls
At the foot of the Prenn pass, with a walkway behind the curtain of water and a small suspension bridge. Easy to stop at on the way into or out of Da Lat.
5. Cam Ly Falls
Inside the city — smaller than the others but handy if you're short on time.
One-day route
Morning Datanla → midday Pongour → afternoon Elephant Falls & Linh An Pagoda → back to Da Lat. The distances are long and the falls lie in different directions, so a private car is far more flexible than booking rides leg by leg.
Tips
- Wear shoes with good grip or strapped sandals — paths are often slippery.
- In the rainy season go in the morning to avoid afternoon showers.
- Don't swim where warning signs are posted.
