Saigon → Mui Ne → Da Lat → Nha Trang is the classic southern Vietnam loop. Most backpackers take sleeper buses, but if you're travelling with friends, splitting a private car often costs only a little more — and you get door-to-door pickups, your own schedule and stops wherever you like.
Cost per leg (whole car, all-inclusive)
| Leg | 4-seat car | 7-seat car |
|---|---|---|
| Saigon → Mui Ne | 1,200,000 VND | 1,300,000 VND |
| Mui Ne → Da Lat | 1,100,000 VND | 1,200,000 VND |
| Da Lat → Nha Trang | 1,000,000 VND | 1,100,000 VND |
| Nha Trang → Saigon | 2,400,000 VND | 2,500,000 VND |
Prices include fuel and tolls, no shared seats, no extra fees.
What that means per person
- 4 friends in a 4-seat car, first three legs: 3,300,000 VND ÷ 4 ≈ 825,000 VND each for Saigon all the way to Nha Trang.
- 6 friends in a 7-seat car, first three legs: 3,600,000 VND ÷ 6 = 600,000 VND each.
- Add the Nha Trang → Saigon leg to close the loop, or fly back from Cam Ranh with an airport transfer.
Why it's worth it
- No bus-office transfers: you're picked up at your hostel or hotel and dropped at the next one.
- Your timetable: sleep in, leave after a late breakfast, or head off at dawn.
- Stops on the way: waterfalls, viewpoints and coffee stops on the mountain roads to Da Lat.
- Luggage-friendly: surfboards, kite gear and big backpacks fit (choose a 7-seater for bulky gear).
- Safer on mountain passes: drivers who know the Da Lat passes, no rushing to a timetable.
Planning tips
- Saigon → Mui Ne: leave around 7am to beat city traffic; arrive before lunch.
- Mui Ne → Da Lat: do a sunrise dune tour first, then leave late morning — about 3.5 – 4 hours.
- Da Lat → Nha Trang: about 3 – 3.5 hours over the Khanh Le pass; avoid driving it at night.
- Book a day or two ahead in peak season (December – April and Vietnamese holidays).
