A jeep tour is the most popular way to see Mui Ne in a few hours: an open-top jeep takes you across the sand dunes, through the fishing village and to Fairy Stream. Here's what to know before you book.
Where does the tour go?
A typical tour includes:
- White Sand Dunes (Bau Trang) — vast fine white dunes, often called a "mini Sahara", next to the Bau Trang lotus lake.
- Red Sand Dunes — near central Mui Ne, with sand boards for rent.
- Mui Ne fishing village — hundreds of round basket boats and a bustling morning fish market.
- Fairy Stream — a shallow stream winding between red and white sand cliffs, lovely to walk barefoot.
Sunrise or sunset?
| Sunrise tour | Sunset tour | |
|---|---|---|
| Departure | around 4:30 a.m. | around 1 – 2 p.m. |
| Pros | cool air, untouched sand, morning fish market | no early start, sunset over the dunes |
| Cons | very early wake-up | early afternoon is hot |
If you can only pick one, most people prefer sunrise for the light and the cool air.
What to bring
- Sunglasses, a scarf to cover your face (the sand blows a lot) and a hat.
- A light jacket for the early-morning tour.
- Sandals, or go barefoot at Fairy Stream.
- A waterproof bag for your phone and camera.
Quad bikes (ATV)
- Quad bikes are for rent at the dunes — agree on price and duration before you set off.
- Go slowly over dune crests and don't carry small children without a guide.
Choosing a tour
Pick a tour with hotel pickup and drop-off and a private vehicle for your group so you can linger longer at the spots you love.
