How to Get from Saigon to Mui Ne: Bus, Train, Shared Limousine or Private Car

Mui Ne is about 210 km from central Saigon. Since the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay and Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressways opened, the trip is much faster and smoother. Here are the four common ways to get there.

At a glance

Option Travel time (approx.) Door-to-door Best for
Sleeper bus 4.5 – 5.5 h Usually from a bus office Solo, budget
Train ~4 h + taxi to Mui Ne No Train lovers, no rush
Shared limousine 4 – 5 h Yes, within set areas 1 – 2 travellers
Private car 3.5 – 4.5 h Yes, both ends Families, groups, luggage

Sleeper bus

Many departures a day and you pay per seat, so it is cheap if you travel alone. On the other hand, buses stop along the way, run to a fixed timetable and usually leave from a bus office. In Mui Ne they drop passengers along Nguyen Dinh Chieu – Huynh Thuc Khang street.

Train

There are Saigon – Phan Thiet trains, and north–south trains stop at Binh Thuan (Muong Man) station. The train is comfortable and scenic, but there are few departures a day and the stations are far from Mui Ne — you need a 15 – 30 km taxi ride afterwards.

Shared limousine

9 – 11 seat vans with roomy seats, picking up within certain areas. You share with other passengers, so the van may make several pickups and follows the operator's schedule. Good for 1 – 2 people who want more comfort than a bus.

Private car

The whole car is yours: door pickup in Saigon, drop-off at your Mui Ne hotel, departure at the time you choose and stops whenever you like. You pay per car, not per person, so the more people, the cheaper:

  • 4-seat car: 1,200,000 VND per trip — about 300,000 VND each for 4 people.
  • 7-seat car: 1,300,000 VND per trip — about 217,000 VND each for 6 people.
  • 16-seater / Limousine: for big groups and company trips.

All-inclusive, never shared, no extra charges. See the full Saigon – Mui Ne price list.

Which should you choose?

  • Solo, light luggage: bus or shared limousine.
  • Families with kids or elderly parents: private car — no transfers, stops on demand.
  • Groups of 4 – 7: a private car usually costs about the same per person and is far faster and easier.
  • Just landed at Tan Son Nhat? Book a Tan Son Nhat airport pickup straight to Mui Ne without going into the city.

Once you're there, don't miss the sunrise jeep tour of the sand dunes.
