The destinations between Nha Trang and Saigon have quite different climates. Choosing the right season makes a big difference.
At a glance
| Destination | Best time | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Nha Trang | roughly January – August | roughly September – December is rainy, storms possible |
| Da Lat | dry season, roughly November – April | rainy season brings afternoon rain, but it's cloud-hunting season |
| Mui Ne – Phan Thiet | almost all year, best roughly November – April | windy season means lots of blowing sand |
| Vung Tau – Saigon | dry season, roughly December – April | rainy season roughly May – November, with afternoon showers |
Nha Trang
Sunny skies and calm seas in the first half of the year — ideal for island trips and snorkelling. The end of the year is rainy, so check the forecast before booking sea trips.
Da Lat
- Dry season (roughly November – April): clear, cool days, perfect for walking and photos. Late in the year wild sunflowers bloom yellow; around January – February the cherry blossoms appear.
- Rainy season (roughly May – October): rain usually comes in the afternoon, mornings are still fine — and it's the best season for cloud hunting. See our cloud hunting guide.
Mui Ne – Phan Thiet
One of the driest places in Vietnam — good almost all year. From about November to April it's dry and windy, which makes it kitesurfing season.
Vung Tau – Saigon
The dry season is sunny and great for the beach. In the rainy season showers are usually brief and in the afternoon, so an early start still works.
Avoid peak holidays
Lunar New Year (Tet), 30 April – 1 May and 2 September are the busiest times: room rates rise and roads jam. If you travel then, book rooms and transport early.
Whatever the season, Minh Hy Travel offers private cars with door-to-door pickup on the Saigon, Mui Ne, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Vung Tau routes.
