Da Lat's attractions are scattered around the city. Here are the 10 most worthwhile, grouped by area so you can plan your days easily.
City centre
- Xuan Huong Lake — the heart of Da Lat, loveliest early in the morning when mist hangs over the water. A walk or bike ride around it is a joy.
- Lam Vien Square — giant wild-sunflower and artichoke-bud structures overlooking the lake.
- Da Lat Cathedral ("Chicken Church") — built in the French era, known for the rooster on top of its bell tower.
- Da Lat Market & night market — the place for local specialities and evening street food.
History and architecture
- Bao Dai's Palace III — the last emperor's summer villa, built in the 1930s amid pine trees.
- Da Lat Railway Station — a French-era station whose three pointed roofs echo the Langbiang peaks. A tourist train runs to Trai Mat.
- Linh Phuoc Pagoda — in Trai Mat, famous for structures covered in millions of pieces of broken porcelain and glass.
Nature
- Truc Lam Zen Monastery & Tuyen Lam Lake — a peaceful monastery on Phoenix Hill; take the cable car over the pine forest.
- Cau Dat tea hills — bright green rows of tea, especially beautiful on a cloud-hunting morning.
- Langbiang Mountain — over 2,100 m high, with jeeps running up to Rada peak for panoramic views.
Getting around
- Group sights by area: faraway nature spots in the morning, history in the afternoon, the centre in the evening.
- Sights are a few to several dozen kilometres apart on steep mountain roads — a private car with a local driver is far easier than driving yourself.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a light jacket.
